PRESERVING FLOWERS FAQs

How does this process work?

The first step is to make your reservation on our calendar. Once you book your reservation you will receive a confirmation email with our expert shipping instructions. While you are waiting on your wedding day you can browse our packages and pieces to see what interests you most on our pricing page.

Once your wedding day has finally arrived, you will ship your flowers on the next business day according to our shipping instructions. Once we receive your flowers we will notify you and send you your final invoice. Once your flowers are carefully dried and ready to be preserved in resin, our artist will provide a design form to consult with you about your vision for your custom art.

The whole process can take about 16-20 weeks depending on the size of the order.

Can you use already dried flowers?

Absolutely! You would still need to place a reservation for your custom order. The only difference in the process is that we do not have to dry your flowers and there are separate shipping instructions for your pre-dried flowers.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes! We prefer to plan ahead and only accept a set number of orders each week. If we are fully booked with reservations for the week we cannot accept any last minute orders.

Will the resin art last over time?

Yes they will. The only thing I recommend is to keep the resin out of constant direct sunlight and do not store them in a place with extreme heat. Heat and constant sunlight will cause the resin to yellow

What happens with my left over flowers?

The flowers that are not used in your art piece can be sent back with your order upon request. Request must be made at the time of flower delivery. If you want them returned to you  it will be an additional fee of $20 to cover higher shipping costs. If you would like the remainder of the flowers preserved it will be an additional fee assessed upon the size of your bouquet. Please talk with shop owner

How far in advance should I book a reservation?

The sooner the better! The busier months of the year book quicker than the summer months. I recommend a minimum if 3-4 months in advance to secure a spot.

Do all flowers dry the same?

No, unfortunately not all flowers dry the same. For example red flowers dry much darker than their original color. White flowers dry more of a cream colour. Lilies and orchids dry paper thin. Some flowers can have “bruising” which causes translucent spots on the petals when they are in resin. We unfortunately cannot preserve succulents. Please feel free to inquire with us if you are curious about the exact flowers you will have in your bouquet.

Additionally, we can only preserve your flowers in the condition in which we receive them. We strongly urge you to follow our packing and shipping instructions for the best results.

What is resin?

Resin is a wonderfully dynamic and beautiful medium that creates a glass-like surface and shine. Resin is a two-part liquid (meaning there are two solutions which need to be mixed together in order for it to take shape and become ‘resin’). Its main properties are its adhesive qualities, its strength and its specific usability. It is very commonly used in artworks and homewares, however, it has a functional role in the structure and engineering of aircraft, cars and boats. Its strength also makes it suitable for flooring and surface protection.

How does resin wear?

In short, incredibly well! Once resin has sat for 72 hours after being created, it is at its hardest. Resin is much stronger than glass and much more durable, meaning it can withstand normal kitchen activities. Whilst resin is not scratch-free, it is very hardy when it comes to scuff and scratch marks, having a similar robustness to that of silver

How are the products made?

Each piece is handmade. We mix our two part (A and B) resin together, add in our pigments and inks and then we pour the resin in one of our custom made moulds. Check out our Instagram page to see how we make our pieces.

Can the cheese boards be used for chopping?

Yes absolutely! We specially select the wood we use so that each piece can be used both in the kitchen as well as for serving. Like all wooden chopping boards, cut marks will be left, however, if this is of concern we suggest simply turning the board over, placing it on a tea towel and chopping on the back!

Is it sustainable?

We only source sustainable supplies (recycled, biodegradable and ethically sourced) and use solar power for all of our production activities. Our shipping is carbon neutral and we use plastic free methods wherever possible. Once resin has been cured it is stable and will not harm the environment.

Is it handmade?

Yes! All our products are handmade.

How long will it take to dispatch and ship my order?

Most of our products are pre-order only, unless it mentions ‘ready to post’!
It takes 3-4 weeks to make an order. If it’s from stock it usually takes 1-2 business days to dispatch your order. As a general rule, Australian shipping takes between   1-5 business days and international shipment that between 7-15 business days.

How do I care for my products?

Our resin is very strong, sturdy and doesn’t require much upkeep!
They’re not dishwasher and microwave safe, use a soft cloth or wet wipes to wipe it.

High Temperatures resistance of up to 110 degrees, ideal for tea and coffee.

The wood that we use should be treated the same as other wood products. Do not soak or put your products in the dishwasher and treat with a food-grade oil when the colour of the wood begins to dull.

We do highly recommend using beeswax: 100% natural, food safe,no petro-chemicals,silicone free and fantastic for restoring old or dry timber. It prevents drying and cracking.
